Almost A Month Later...

Finally, I'm writing ABAP programs already! No, not the ones for exercise, but the ones that the company can actually benefit from! For one thing, I've just wrote an automatic report writer. Thanks to that development, it'll take me so much lesser time writing reports!

Sad thing, though, is that there's a lack of energy with the newbies. Like, they've complained about not having enough action to keep them motivated, and now that the action is here, they're still not moving! *Sigh* I have to whack their heads to their senses.

I'll be taking home my next paycheck soon... or at least withdraw it from my ATM account. I hope I'll be taking home, say, P6900 this time around (since P7500 minus tax... taxes suck...).

It makes me think, though... I just wish that all jobs can satisfy us equally. I mean... like each and every one of us will have a job that we feel truly happy doing. I suddenly remembered John Nash's economic theory. Think of it... and I'll bet that if that happens, every single person on earth will be employed happily... but then again, we have the economic phenomenon, and everything gets screwed up again.

Lesson for today: Find a job that you will truly be happy in, or find reason to be happy at work.

I Don't Understand This Title...

It makes me wonder how this song by Rivermaya called "Balisong" is called as such. Here are the lyrics...

Your face
lights up the sky on the
highway.

Someday,
you'll share your world with me
someday.

You mesmerize me
with diamond eyes.

I try to fool myself to think i'll be alright
but i am losin’ all control
my mind, my heart, my body, and my soul.

Never in my life have i been more sure
so come on up to me and close the door.
Nobody's made me feel this way before.
You're everythin’ i wanted and more.

To speak or not to
where to begin
the great dilemmas i'm findin myself in.

For all i know you only see me as a friend.
I try to tell myself, 'wake up fool, this fairy tales got to end.'

Never in my life have i been more sure
so come on up to me and close the door.
Nobody's made me feel this way before.
You're everythin’ i wanted and more.

Maybe it had something to do with cutting up the fantasies...? Oh well... I'll come up with an answer soon.

First Pay

My first pay is: P2501.41...

Darn... paano ako manlilibre? Hmm... let's try some projection, shall we?

- I spend P500 on personal expenses per week (food, commute, etc.). Included here are my treats for my hunniekins.
- Also, there's a company team-building seminar next week. I'm allocating P1250 here, more or less.

So that's P1000 (P500 x 2 weeks) plus P1250 equals P2250. That'll leave me with P251.41 treat cash.

Next pay day na lang...
Life is a Marshmallow Test

Consider this, fellow bloggers: life is a huge marshmallow test. Well... at least for my setting.

If you could remember one of those commercials on TV (hmm... must've been one of those local milk brands...), the kids who waited for the extra marshmallow had successful lives later on. Moral of the story: patience and perseverance pays off.

It's just like this training room I'm in right now. Lots of times, we're left alone here (fellow trainees, so 3 of us total). We've got 10 Mbps internet connection, privacy, and time to study ABAP/4 (it's SAP R/3's programming language). I've got to admit that I also bit at the marshmallow early, but I did my homework.

Right now, I'm testing out an HP Compaq nx7010. It's a laptop left behind by one of the company's programmers. He got ejected, by the way, because he was on the phone a lot (personal calls), sends SMS's way too often (even at meetings), and is part of the late-in-early-out club. He paid for 3 months use of this unit, and it's being offered to me at a still whopping P99900 (Centrino 1.5 GHz, 512MB RAM, 80GB HDD, 3 months used, a few scratches).

God, help me wait for the other marshmallow...

Work, Day Five

There's nothing right when you catch a cold, especially a nasty, cloggy one. It sucks, one hundred percent. It sucks more if you have to work with a cold. And it sucks even more if you have a cold in an air-con environment (like here at Ramcar).

Sucky guy = John.

It bites. Every thirty minutes or so, I have to go to the restroom to extract the vile sludge, wash, then take a trip to the canteen to grab water (yes, I'm undergoing water treatment for this cold).

Oh well, at least we have free internet here. FREE! However, it gets cut off once in a while. Why? I don't know. Maybe the internet server here has a nasty sharing theme (cut, connect, cut, connect, repeat). Therefore, no YM, no decent net surfing, and, well, more boredom.

I guess that I got to be the studious guy in the team. My teammates Jed and JL are, well, not so studious. They prefer the action part over the theorhetics. Well, me too, but I need to read to know what to do when the action comes along. Recalling St. Luke's, I kept on reading and reading and reading - enough reading, I guess, to proclaim myself as a geek. Well... I'm not a geek. I'M NOT A GEEK!!!

Heck... I hope this cold goes away sooner. I want to see my hunniekins... I wanna see Katrina!!! Haven't seen her in two days. Missing her or not, however, I don't want her to catch my cold.

Sucky guy = John.

I hope the rainy season passes by sooner. Let the "I-don't-wanna-go-to-school" crybabies whine.

I just remembered... IBM gave me a call yesterday asking if I were to be scheduled for an interview tomorrow. I mentioned to them that I cannot due to my current employment status. I guess I passed their test...

First Few Days

I just started working for Ramcar 2 days ago (June 2, 2004). Finally, I got a job. Sooner or later, I'll also be getting a laptop (catch: going to be amortized from salary) as a job requirement.

Job description: SAP Consultant Trainee.

It's the job I got from IESC (Integrated Enterprise Solutions Co.), the SAP Consulting arm of Ramcar. I got six (6) months to prove myself worthy (with pay). If I pass, I'll make it to the team and sign for three (3) years. Fail, well, out.

By day two, I brought a backpack to work. At the end of day one, I've been given two books related to SAP. By yesterday evening, I was taking home three (just like a schoolboy). It kinda feels like OJT again; like that in St. Luke's, only with pay.

Working hours are from 8:30 a.m. to 6:00 p.m., Monday to Friday. Originally, it should have been something like 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. on weekdays PLUS 9 a.m. to 12 n.n. on Saturdays, but Ramcar decided to squeeze in the Saturdays to the weekdays (to save gas and energy, I suppose).

So there... a new life coming up...
