Rainy Days and Sunny Days

Moral Lesson: There's no such thing as a perfect life.

For instance, Kat just got her new schedule at work; 8:30AM to 5:30PM. That's so great, but she's down with influenza right now, and won't be seeing sunny Boracay this weekend.

I just qualified for the top 16 (from 400 participants) in the C! Top Driver Challenge, and will be karting for free sometime next month (where the top 8 will advance to Batangas Racing Circuit, or BRC). If not for a screw-up though, I could've been top 1 at the video game challenge (Gran Turismo 3 networked) and won a set of wheels from Rota worth twenty grand.

I'm happy with my 172-pound frame right now, but am constantly getting LBM attacks.

I'm flexi-time at work (Fact: Yesterday, I went to work at 4:30PM and went home before midnight), but I have a leadership-skill-lacking boss.

Hmm... just like the weather; there's rainy days and sunny days.

Just Like a Splendid Love Song

When I heard this song from OPM act Orange and Lemons, it instantly got stuck in my head. It may sound like David Bowie con Beatles, but this is a very beautiful love song. Here are the lyrics:

Spending my days with you
Is like living in a world of fancy
With all the beautiful people I know
Makin' love in a world of vivid colours
How often have I been there

Well it really doesn't matter
As long as we're together

You and me, together we will journey
To seek and see the colours of our fantasies
Come to life with the stroke of your soothing hands
All the questions of life
I will come to understand

Seasons come and seasons go
Stars will shine and lose their glow
But every time I try to look back, I know

That spending my days with you
Is like living in a world of fancy
With all the beautiful people I know
Makin' love in a world of vivid colours
How often have I been there

Well it really doesn't matter
As long as we're together

You and me in love with each other
There will be no problems that will bother
Just the two of us painting a world of our own
Everything is perfect
Just like a splendid love song

Seasons come and seasons go
Stars will shine and lose their glow
But every time I try to look back, I know

Seasons come and seasons go
Stars will shine and lose their glow
But every time I try to look back, I know

That spending my days with you
Is like living in a world of fancy
With all the beautiful people I know
Makin' love in a world of vivid colours
How often have I been there

Well it really doesn't matter
As long as we're together

Thoughts From A Long Walk

I took a walk from work to the Security Bank ATM at Tomas Morato and Timog. An officemate told me that pay comes usually the night before payday.

But why take a walk when I got a car, right? Nah... I had to walk the distance. I wanted to think things over.

I can say that I'm pretty much sad right now. So many things ran into my head, and it's quite depressing that I even thought it up.

Obvious first is my physical fitness. I'm not as fit as compared to the me back in college. Proof? 160 and 175 has a difference of 15... fifteen pounds. It used to hit 182. Another sign is more effort to walk; it used to be effortless.

Then I'm starting to dislike work. I'm not sure if it's management or the line of work I'm in, but every morning since March, I had to drag my ass out of bed to come to work. I still get to complete my time requirements, but I usually come in at 11 in the morning (that's 3.5 hours late, but we're flexi-time). Perhaps I'm good at programming, but maybe I'm not really into it.

I also realized a handicap for consultants: poor memory. I took a Tickle memory test earlier today, and scored only 73%. That means I forgot the 27% in a span of less than ten minutes. I come to meetings with a notebook. I work in front of a computer with four notebooks in arm's reach. Why? Poor memory. Makes me think if I'm really for this line of work.

I'm glad I have a healthy relationship with Katrina May. I wonder if I'll be driven insane should time come she'd be gone in my life. I imagined that in my walk, too. Imagination told me I may be happy with many other things, but I'll always wind up with a missing piece.

And then I stood before the ATM, slid the card in, punched the magic buttons to check my account...

No pay yet.

And so I walked back, thought some more...

Swimming

Ang sarap siguro mag-swimming ngayong summer. Tignan mo yung pic ng bata... nakakainggit, di ba? Parang ang sarap umalis ng opisina, punta ka sa kung saang swimming pool, sabay dive. Sarap!

Di bale... this Sunday, lalangoy ako!

Top Three Words

Right now, the top three most popular words in our room (in reverse order) are the following:

3. Resumé (rĕz'u-mā', rĕz'u-mā') - A brief account of one's professional or work experience and qualifications, often submitted with an employment application.

2. Contract (kŏn'trăkt') - An agreement between two or more parties, especially one that is written and enforceable by law. Side note: In this case, a 3-year bond that, if broken by the employee, is worth 2 million pesos.

1. Resign (rĭ-zīn') - To give up (a position, for example), especially by formal notification.

Consider Me Lucky

Current dilemma: I'm not happy with work right now. I'm starting to see work as something that fails to fulfill me. Maybe it's the environment here, or perhaps a number of interests interfering.

Maybe being a programmer/analyst isn't exactly my dream job. Sure, I can be good at it, but not to the extent of being competitive. For instance, one of my officemates can learn to use a language even without knowing its basics. Me, I need to know the basics. The basics learning time is so long, that officemate of mine can leave me in the dust.

Perhaps it's the ten-month job itch, or even the trauma of one failed project after another. There are so many factors at play here, but all I can say is that I'm growing at a snail's pace.

I may consider myself lucky, though. We're flexi-time here; log in and out whenever you want, as long as you get the job done. I've got a library to access learning materials on SAP and other languages here as well. I also have a somewhat competitive salary, close to call center agents, but still operate regularly from 8:30am to 6:00pm.

Perhaps I need to shed light over the dark side of me...

Champagne Supernova

I don't know what inspired Noel Gallagher to write this song (or what he was sniffing, maybe), but this is arguably the best song Oasis has ever written. The lyrics, at some parts, may seem nonsense, but the sound is truly inspiring. Here are the lyrics:

How many special people change
How many lives are living strange
Where were you when we were getting high?
Slowly walking down the hall
Faster than a cannon ball
Where were you while we were getting high?

Some day you will find me
Caught beneath the landslide
In a champagne supernova in the sky
Some day you will find me
Caught beneath the landslide
In a champagne supernova
A champagne supernova in the sky

Wake up the dawn and ask her why
A dreamer dreams she never dies
Wipe that tear away now from your eye
Slowly walking down the hall
Faster than a cannon ball
Where were you when we were getting high?

Some day you will find me
Caught beneath the landslide
In a champagne supernova in the sky
Some day you will find me
Caught beneath the landslide
In a champagne supernova
A champagne supernova

Cos people believe that they're
Gonna get away for the summer
But you and I, we live and die
The world's still spinning round
We don't know why
Why, why, why, why

How many special people change
How many lives are living strange
Where were you when we were getting high?
Slowly walking down the hall
Faster than a cannon ball
Where were you while we were getting high?

Some day you will find me
Caught beneath the landslide
In a champagne supernova in the sky
Some day you will find me
Caught beneath the landslide
In a champagne supernova
A champagne supernova

Cos people believe that they're
Gonna get away for the summer
But you and I, we live and die
The world's still spinning round
We don't know why
Why, why, why, why

How many special people change
How many lives are living strange
Where were you when we were getting high?
We were getting high
We were getting high
We were getting high
We were getting high
